A native of Windsor, Denise Hebert’s journey in athletics began early and grew into a lifelong mission to nurture talent and foster excellence in the throws — shot put, discus, javelin, and hammer. Over more than 25 years, her influence extended far beyond her coaching sessions; she was a mentor and a guiding light for countless athletes who looked up to her for inspiration and leadership. Her dedication to her craft was evident in every training session, every competition, and every young person she mentored.
Denise’s coaching achievements reached national and international levels. She served on the coaching staff of Team Canada, where she led athletes at major competitions including the IAAF World Youth and Junior Championships, the Pan American Junior Championships, and the World University Games. Her expertise was sought after, and her leadership helped shape the careers of numerous athletes who competed on the world stage. She also served as the coach for Team Ontario at the Canadian Youth Championships and the 2005 Canada Games, guiding young athletes to reach their potential on national platforms. For more than a decade, she was the throws coach for the University of Windsor Lancers, where she played a pivotal role in developing championship-level competitors and fostering a culture of excellence.
Beyond her achievements in coaching, Denise was a dedicated teacher with the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board for over 30 years.
